Dumortierite was named after the French paleontologist E. Dumortier from around 1881. This stone can come in varying shades of blue, blue-green, violet. It is said it's blue color come from titanium (rutile)
Metaphysically it is believed to be a wonderful past life healing tool working on a subtle level, used by some to reduce stress and anxiety a good stone to carry in ones pocket.
